Cats he has known...
The BooMan writes on deadly felines:
The last cat I owned was basically an indoor cat who got some supervised time outside. Of course, you couldn't bring the groceries in from the car without him escaping. And more than once, he managed to kill a bird in the short time it took me to put the groceries on the counter and go back outside to retrieve him. He was like the ultimate predator. When I was a child, we had a cat that killed everything and then brought it home as a present. He was an outdoor cat and he just disappeared one day. It really upset me when I realized that God wasn't going to answer my prayers and return my cat. Things were never the same between God and me after that. But I was about seven years old, so…
In any case, I'm not surprised to learn that cats kill a lot of stuff, but the estimates are kind of stunning.

Cats can kill rabbits???? Must be pretty big cats or pretty small rabbits!

Update on veil...hard to see from the pics, but these are samples with the hand beading I've done on the lace. Bride approved and I took it to a gal at the bridal shop who also thought it was good. So now the next step is to start sewing on the actual veil. Wish me luck!

Very much so!!
I hope she saves this veil for her future daughters to wear. It's a REAL keepsake!

Just beautiful t'ful! JaH is right, this veil will be a family heirloom.

Thanks, guys....the heirloom thing only works if they name their daughter something that starts with J!

Not really...the daughter could say she is wearing her mother's veil to honor her mother! And later, the grandmother...I think it would be a touching tradition to start.

It can be the "something old" for generations to come!
Beautiful work, T'ful!

I may not eat anything but spring rolls for the next month. I'll certainly never buy them as take-out again now that I can make the sauce I like!
This is really a satay sauce, but I like it with spring rolls better than the Vietnamese style dipping sauce that I've been getting at the Pho house.
Peanut Dipping Sauce
2 table spoons oil (any kind will do, but I use Peanut or Canola)
1-2 cloves of garlic crushed
˝ onion finely chopped
˝ teaspoon chili flakes
˝ cup peanut butter
1 Tbl soy sauce
1 Tbl lime juice (juice from ˝ a lime)
˝ teaspoon lime zest (optional)
2 table spoons brown sugar (can substitute white if necessary)
1 - 1 ˝ cups coconut milk (this is an “eyeball” measurement)
1 teaspoon fish sauce
Add more coconut milk or water to thin out sauce if needed
This is adapted from the Greg's Kitchen recipe on YouTube. The guy creeps me out a little bit because he doesn't blink and he's really, REALLY chipper, but this is hands down my favorite peanut sauce ever --- better than the restaurant.

I am so glad to see that this sauce doesn't have lemon grass...after several distressing exposures to that ingredient, I have discovered I am highly allergic to it. At least, that's the conclusion I've come to after myriad episodes of (severe) distress after eating Vietnamese and Thai food.

This is for the "just too cute" file:

Other than shortening and attaching it to the comb, the veil is done! Huzzah!!!
The beading consists of a wide variety of stuff, but I coordinated it with each flower being beaded in the same way regardless of where it occurred on the veil. I used paillets, rocailles, seed beads, bugle beads, czech crystal, swarovski crystal, individually mounted rhinestones, sequins, a few pearls and hand embroidery in silver thread.

That train is so beautiful...makes one want to wear it more than once, that's for sure!
